Saving Them to Death

The catastrophic human cost of closing long-term care facilities and separating families during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic is illustrated in our advocacy book to legislators. We shared stories of loved ones in long term care facilities like the ones we are sharing here, explained why we worked to restore resident rights and made specific requests of our elected officials. This book helped us advocate for changes in Texas that ultimately took place in the form of an Essential Caregiver statute and amendment to the Texas Constitution.
